LUMINA – Festival of Light, considered by the British newspaper The Guardian as one of the 10 best Light festivals in Europe, is back in Cascais for an 8th edition, on the 12th, 13th and 14th of September 2025.
The event, with free entry, invites audiences of all ages to visit multiple light installations throughout Cascais, including interactive works, sculptural works, video mapping installations and live performances, during three nights filled with art, music and technology.
The initiative, produced and curated by the creative studio OCUBO and supported by the City of Cascais, will transform the streets into an interactive and multisensory cultural experience, after hosting, in previous editions, more than one and a half million national and international visitors.

According to Carole Purnelle, CEO of OCUBO studio, “LUMINA is a great celebration of art, which transforms Cascais into a great stage for creativity and innovation, bringing protagonists from the artistic universe from all over the world to challenge the public to explore new perspectives, new perspectives and new ways of thinking. This initiative uses the village’s unique beauty to create an innovative opportunity for thousands of visitors to experience its charms in a completely new way. Here, the audience is an active participant in the construction of the entire experience, interacting with it, and absorbing it through the light of their unique perspective. In this new edition, light, the center of the entire experience, is back as a theme and metaphor for the creation of new and surprising installations with great visual and sensorial impact.”
