Despite coming from a background in sciences, he was a long-serving colonist in the newspaper Kathimerini, contributing a great deal to Greek literature, including in the fields of poetry, music, and criticism.


Born in 1957, in Lessini, Messolonghi, in western Greece, Boukalas graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Athens and has been involved in various cultural projects, such as translating ancient Greek plays and collaborating on musical works.
