The decree-law was approved following the proposal for the legislative authorisation law approved in the Assembly of the Republic and implements a European Union regulation, says the Council of Ministers in a statement.
The new rules for cosmetic products determine the requirements that economic operators in the sector must follow, including the mandatory information that must appear on the labelling of cosmetic products and in the product information file.
“The diploma also regulates the labelling of cosmetics sold in bulk or packaged at the point of sale, ensuring transparency and safety for consumers,” says the Council of Ministers.
According to the statement, a system for reporting undesirable effects is also planned, allowing healthcare professionals, other professionals who use cosmetics or consumers to report adverse reactions.
Furthermore, the regime includes sanctions for entities that fail to comply with the regulation and the possibility of adopting precautionary measures to protect public health, preventing or eliminating risks associated with cosmetic products.
