In this second phase of the “Electric Streets” initiative, the budget is €540 thousand, out of a total of €2.3 million that was not used up in the initial phase, funds co-financed by the Environmental Fund.

In a statement, Mobi.E said that the “initiative aims to provide charging stations on streets in urban, residential or commercial areas, where buildings without their own parking are predominant, creating the necessary conditions for residents of these areas to be able to acquire electric vehicles”.

“It is also a way of raising awareness among municipalities about the central role they play in the transition to sustainable mobility, encouraging them to create procedures to reinforce the public charging network”, says the entity managing the electric mobility network.

In Paços de Ferreira, four charging stations will be installed, while Mirandela and Ourém will each receive three stations. The infrastructure reinforcement will also include two stations in 15 other municipalities. Namely: Borba, Carregal do Sal, Chestnut of Pear, Constance, Crato, Fundão, Marvão, Mora, Potters, Santa Cruz of Flores, Sertã, Sousel, Tábua and Trofa.

Each of these devices will have a power of 22 kW, with two charging points at the same time, and should allow charging without the need for a prior contract with an Electricity Supplier for Electric Mobility.

The bidding process establishes a period of 30 days, until March 21, for Charging Point Operators (OPC) to submit their proposals through the acinGov public procurement platform. The expectation is that the stations will start operating by the end of this year.

The first phase of the project is in the implementation phase and foresees the installation of a total of 156 charging stations (312 points) in 62 municipalities. The lots, which went to tender last September, were awarded to EDP Comercial, Wowplug, Ecoinside, Mota-Engil Renewing, Galp and Wenea.
