The Municipality of Castro Marim, in partnership with Reciclimpa and Impacts The Future, wanted to reinforce the separate collection of Used Cooking Oils through the implementation of a Network of Smart Oil Containers.
“After using the oil at home or in your commercial establishment, place it in a bottle and close it tightly, before inserting it into the metal oil container, which has an anti-theft deposition system, a capacity of over 200 litres and is painted with anti-graffiti paint”, says the local authority, adding that “technology goes hand in hand with these new oil containers, which also have a state-of-the-art ultrasonic filling and movement sensor, with a communications system, which provides an efficient and reliable solution”.
This new feature “contributes to good waste management, preventing unauthorised access and providing greater control over its capacity and operation, while the structure is highly durable, built to withstand adverse environmental conditions and guaranteeing a long useful life.”
Thanks to this technology, Castro Marim City Hall has access to real-time visualization of the oil filling status, accounting of deposits made and access to data collected on a management control platform.
Another new feature of this initiative is a smartphone app that any citizen can have on their cell phone, which will allow them to use the oil containers, and check the locations where they are installed.
