According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), in Madeira and Porto Santo, the persistence of very high maximum temperatures extended the orange warning until 11pm on Sunday, the second most serious on a scale of three, which then drops to yellow until 6pm on Monday.
In six of the nine districts of mainland Portugal where the yellow warning due to heat is active - Setúbal, Santarém, Lisbon, Leiria, Aveiro and Coimbra - the IPMA has extended it until 11pm on Sunday, warning of the "persistence of high maximum temperature values, especially in the interior of the districts.
In the districts of Porto, Viana do Castelo and Braga, the yellow warning ends at 11pm today.
For today, the IPMA predicts slightly cloudy or clear skies and a small increase in the minimum temperature in the North and Center.
Forecasts indicate that minimum temperatures will vary between 13ºC (Bragança) and 22ºC (Portalegre) and maximum temperatures between 26ºC (Sagres) and 37ºC (Santarém).
