At 10:15, the fire, which broke out around 13:00 on Monday near the village of Fica Bem, in the parish of São Marcos da Serra, municipality of Silves, in the district of Faro, had mobilised 601 operatives, with the support of 205 land assets and nine air assets.

On Monday, a source from the CDOS in Faro told Lusa that "in view of the progression of the flames", the Civil Protection asked the GNR to remove the inhabitants of several villages in Monte das Zorras, Alcarias, Novas, Corte Peral, Chaminé, Boião and Casas Velhas, in the São Marcos da Serra area.
