This is ANA's expectation, according to ECO, given that the Council of Ministers' resolution has already been approved and, at this moment, the consultation with interested parties is underway. Consultation with airlines is ongoing and may lead to changes in traffic specifications and forecasts.
Of the various dossiers that the Government had in hand, the construction of the future Luís de Camões airport at the Alcochete Shooting Range was one of the most complex.
Unlike the sale of TAP, whose privatisation decree-law was never approved, in the case of the development of the New Lisbon Airport (NAL), a Council of Ministers resolution was approved in May 2024, formally triggering the process.
Since then, ANA has already submitted the Initial Report to the Government, in December, and in January the latter gave the concessionaire the green light to proceed with the application to the NAL. A period of consultation with interested parties is currently underway, and ANA must submit a Consultation Report by 17 July. Given that the President of the Republic will schedule the elections for May 11 or 18, at that time there should already be a new Executive in office to receive the document.
This is, moreover, a topic on which there is consensus between the two largest parties. The leader of the PS, Pedro Nuno Santos, also defended the option for the Alcochete Shooting Range, following the conclusions of the report by the Independent Technical Commission, which indicated that the location was the one with the most advantages.
