The evolution of prices will depend on the value of production factors, the Portuguese Meat Industry Association (APIC) told ECO.

“Everything indicates that prices will rise given the increase in production factors”, says an official APIC source, adding that “market prices are the result of the law of demand and supply, and also of the increases suffered in production”.

Still, APIC emphasises that increases in production costs will not be passed on in full to the end consumer. “Industries are unlikely to be able to completely reverse the increase in production factors in the value of the final cost of food produced”, points out the association.

In turn, the Association of Meat Traders of Portugal (ACCCLO) highlights that beef “will be one of the products that has risen and will continue” in 2025, highlighting that exports of this product must follow this trend since “prices they are much more inviting [than] those practiced in Portugal”.
